Terrence
Wu

Piano Instructor and Accompanist

Terrence Wu is a dedicated musician and scholar currently pursuing his Master of Music (MMus.) in Piano Performance at the University of Western Ontario. He holds a Bachelor of Music (BMus.) Honours in Piano Performance and Violin Studies, also from Western University. Terrence has had the honour to work with esteemed instructors such as Stéphan Sylvestre, David Jalbert, Stephane Lemelin, Louise Bessette, and Mel Martin.

 

Terrence’s musical prowess has been recognized through numerous performances and awards, including solo performances at Koerner Hall, Chrominska Hall at Ivey Business School, Canada Games Hall of Honor, and Von Kuster Hall. He has performed with orchestras and in several national competitions. Notable highlights include winning First Prize at the Canadian Music Competition National Finals in Montréal and presenting his first Lecture Recital on Mozart’s Sonata, K. 331 under the Brock University Mentorship Program, both at the age of 15. In August 2024, he was selected to be a part of the Western University’s Graduate Symposium to give a Lecture on Liszt-Paganini’s Grandes Études. He has received top prizes at Ontario Music Festivals Associations Finals, an honourable mention at the Oakville Concerto Competition, and was the two-time winner of the  Fred Pattison Piano Competition and Maritsa Brookes Concerto Competition. Terrence has also served as a member of the Brock University String Orchestra and the Western University Symphony Orchestra.

 

Terrence’s professional journey encompasses a diverse range of experiences. From serving as an Article and Book Author at the Antarctic Institute of Canada to assuming roles as Stage Manager at the Yellow Door Theatre Project and Executive Assistant at the Niagara Symphony Orchestra. He has also volunteered extensively at the Royal Henley Retirement Residence, Niagara Health System Hospital, and Chartwell Regency Retirement Residence.

 

Beyond his accomplishments, Terrence is deeply passionate about sharing his love for music through teaching and community engagement. As a Private Studio Instructor and Collaborative Pianist, he continues to inspire and uplift others through music.
