Nathaniel
Ninham
Piano Instructor and Accompanist
Nathaniel is a Western Honours Bachelors of Music graduate with a specialization in Piano Performance. Throughout his degree (studying under Dr. Brett Kingsbury) he performed as a recital soloist, and trained as a collaborative pianist, working with many university level vocalists, trumpeters, violinists and more. He also diversified his experience by performing on trumpet in the Western Symphonic Band.
Both during and after his degree, Nathaniel has worked as a solo and collaborative pianist for recitals, exams, weddings, and music festivals. For over five years, he has also shared his passion for music with students of all ages and skill levels.
Nathaniel views lessons as a mix of learning the instrument itself, as well as developing a more general sense of music appreciation. For younger beginners, there’s a focus on understanding the fundamental concepts of note reading, feeling a sense of rhythm, and understanding how the instrument works.
For older and more advanced students, an option to pursue RCM exams and competitions as part of their learning is always available. Lessons will nonetheless elaborate on what makes music a complex and diverse experience, explaining practical theory concepts, providing musical history anecdotes, and engaging in listening’s which flush out the student’s understanding of musical styles.
